The typical SHA3 IP optimizes hash latency, whereas in mining latency doesn't matter. Hashes per second matters! This project presents a 24 stage pipelined version of SHA3-256 optimized for throughput to achieve 1 hash per clock cycle. The long combinatorial chains in each stage as well as the wide (1600 bits) state connection between stages make placement and routing challenging.
